A Content Space (Unit 9, Cue House, Chapel Lane, Stockton Heath, Warrington, Cheshire, WA4 6LL) runs The Edit Space and is the data controller for it. Contact: stephen@acontentspace.com.
What we collect and why
- Your email address: to run your account and send you service emails (like “your edit is ready”). Lawful basis: contract.
- Payment details: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; Stripe stores it so you can pay with one click. We see the card brand and last four digits. Lawful basis: contract.
- Fraud prevention for the £1 first edit: to keep the £1 offer to one per person, we check the card's fingerprint (a code from Stripe that identifies a card without revealing its number) and a salted, one-way scrambled version of your network address. We never store your IP address itself. Lawful basis: legitimate interest (preventing abuse of the offer).
- Your footage and edits: uploaded to private cloud storage, transcribed on our own servers, edited by our system, checked by our human editors, and delivered back to you. Files are deleted 30 days after they're uploaded or made; the edit plan (the transcript and the list of cuts) is deleted after 60 days. Lawful basis: contract.
- Feedback you give (change requests, ratings): to fix your edit and improve the service. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
- Usage analytics: which pages are visited and which buttons are pressed, using our own analytics. It uses no cookies, stores no IP addresses and nothing that identifies you. No advertising trackers. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
- “Be first to use it” lists: if you ask us to tell you when a new kind of edit opens (for example B-roll + voiceover), we keep your email address and which one you asked about, and email you when it launches. Nothing else is stored with it. Ask us to remove you at any time. Lawful basis: consent.
Who processes data for us
Vercel (hosting) · Supabase (accounts and database) · Cloudflare (file storage) · Modal (video processing) · Anthropic (AI editing: the transcript of your footage and editing instructions are processed through their API, which they don't use to train their models) · Stripe (payments) · Resend (email). Each processes data only to provide their service to us. Some processing may happen outside the UK; where it does, it's covered by standard contractual safeguards.
What we never do
We don't sell your data. We don't train public AI models on your footage. We don't show ads. Your raw and edited videos are private to your account: there are no public links, every file is reached only through a short-lived link made for you after we check it's yours, and our human editors see your edits only to do their job.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
You can ask to access, correct, delete or take a copy of your data, or object to how we use it, and you can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk). Email stephen@acontentspace.com and we'll act within a month. Closing your account deletes your footage within 30 days; invoices are kept for as long as tax law requires.
Cookies
Essential cookies only: the ones that keep you logged in and keep your account secure. Our analytics don't use cookies, and there are no advertising cookies, which is why there's no cookie banner.
